Operational Land Forces Command
Operational Land Forces Command (COMFOTER) is the Italian Army's command tasked with the operational and administrative control of most of its combat forces. COMFOTER reports directly to the chief of staff. The command, located in Verona.
History
The Command of land operations forces (COMFOTER) was activated in Verona on 1 October 1997 following the reform of the military who attributed hierarchical supremacy of the Chief of the Defence Staff. It brings together in a single organization all the units engaged in combat, to support, to specific support for the fight and to communication and information systems, which together amount to about 80%[1] of the Italian Army. Initially it was part of the Allied Land Forces Southern Europe (LANDSOUTH), with whom he shared the headquarters of the command, which then broke away, when the Allied Land Forces Command in Southern Europe in 2004 was transferred to Madrid, and had four commands :
- Supports Command;
- Command of projection forces;
- 1st Command of the Defence Forces;
- 2nd Command of the Defence Forces;
- Command Alpine troops.
Over time the structure has evolved to take up the Division "Friuli", the 2nd Command of the defense forces, the Command Alpine troops, the command transmissions and information, the Aviation Command, the NATO Rapid Deployable Italian Corps - Italy and the paratroopers brigade "Thunderbolt".
The headquarters of COMFOTER in Verona is Carli Palace, even if the command department is located at the barracks Dalla Bona of Verona.[2]

Heraldic description of the emblem
The emblem of the COMFOTER comprises a Samnite shield enamelled red metal, color Army, the terrestrial globe of gold and blue, to signify the totality of the hypothetical operational theater, dominated by the depiction of the equestrian statue of Can Grande della Scala, all in gold to symbolize the link with the city of Verona, the top black tricolor on the written COMFOTER
