Otto's Pub & Brewery is a brewpub in State College, Pennsylvania, USA.

In 2003 Otto's was voted #37 on the "Top 50 Places to Have A Pint" in the United States by BeerAdvocate.com.[1]

History

Otto's was opened in October 2002 by Charlie Schnable,[2] previously the brewmaster of Williamsport's Bullfrog Brewery, and Derek Duffee, roommates when they were undergraduates at Penn State. Schnable managed the microbrewery operations, while Duffee handled all of the restaurant operations. Duffee has since sold his portion of Otto's.

In 2005, Roger Garthwaite became a partner. In November 2010, Otto's Pub and Brewery moved down the street to 2235 N. Atherton Street, a mere block away from its former location. The new space (in a previous life was home to Quaker Steak & Lube), provides additional parking, more seating and a larger brewery. Generally there are 8 standard beers on tap. The brewery currently offers: Singles, 22 oz bottle, 4-packs & 12 oz 6-packs, Cases, 12 – 22oz bottles or 24 - 12oz bottles, Growlers, 1/2 gallon (64 ounce) Kegs, 5 gallon also called sixtles because they’re 1/6 of a barrel and Half-barrels (15.5 gallons), 12oz six packs are now available!

Many of Otto's beers are named after local Central Pennsylvanian attractions. The Mt. Nittany Pale Ale is named after nearby Mount Nittany, while the Spring Creek Lager, Red Mo Ale, Spruce Creek Lager and Black Mo Stout are named after the Spring, Red Moshannon, and Black Moshannon creeks, respectively. Slab Cabin IPA is named after a local park known for its sledding. Otto's itself and the seasonal Arthur's Best Bitter are named after Schnable's cats.

In-house beverage production has long included a root beer soft drink in addition to the microbrew selection. Their new location also includes a full bar.
