Ozark Actors Theatre is an Equity[1] theater company in Rolla, Missouri[2] founded in 1987 by pianist Gail Andrews-Hintz and founding Artistic Director F. Reed Brown[3][4] with the help of actress Cindy Beger and her friend Kathy Pukas.[5] In 1993, The Cedar Street Playhouse became the home of Ozark Actors Theatre.[6][7] Ozark Actors Theatre quickly gained a reputation for doing quality theatrical productions, and drew acclaim in Missouri and nation wide.[8] In 2010 Jason Cannon became the artistic director,[9] and Pamela Reckamp took the position in 2015.[1]
The only Equity theatre in the area,[10] they have produced more than 100 shows and are affiliated with the Missouri Arts Council.[11][12] Their mission statement states,[13] "We believe that the performing arts are one of the most positive and powerful transformative forces in people’s lives. Ozark Actors Theatre exists to enhance the cultural life and livability of our community through the presentation of professional performing arts and the offering of performing arts education and training."[14][15]
