Paris Latsis (born Paris Kasidokostas on August 8, 1979[2]) is a Greek shipping heir and socialite. He is the grandson of Yiannis "John S." Latsis. He is also the former fiancé of American socialite Paris Hilton.

Biography

Latsis is the son of Marianna Latsis and Gregory Kasidokostas, a water-ski instructor. Kasidokostas runs a large water-ski school in the seaside town Vouliagmeni. His mother, Marianna, is a major philanthropist who donated funds for Greek earthquake relief and the Athens Olympics.

When his grandfather died in 2003, his fortune was estimated as the 101st largest in the world. Eventually the Latsis family expanded into banking, oil refining and real estate. Forbes magazine recently estimated the Latsis family fortune at US $7.5 billion – placing them at No. 54 on the magazine's list of the world's richest people.

As from 2005 he and Terry Dougas are the owners of the 1821media, "a multimedia production and finance company that specializes in high quality films, television, graphic novels and digital media" that got its name from the Greek Revolution of 1821. Among the stars that have worked with the label are Natalie Portman, Stan Lee, Kevin Costner, Cameron Diaz, Danny Trejo and so on. Other labels that are in collaboration with 1821media are FOX, Disney Pictures and Warner Bros.

Personal

In May 2005, it was announced that Paris Latsis became the fiancé of American socialite, Paris Hilton. In September 2005, the couple broke off their engagement. Latsis currently divides his time between his family home in Athens, Greece and Los Angeles, California.
