Parque dos coqueiros
The Parque dos Coqueiros (Park of the Coconut Trees, in English) is a residential complex located in the north of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
The set was designed to house up to 14 thousand inhabitants, but some research done by the neighborhood associations suggest that this figure had been exceeded.
Several proceedings set Coqueiros Park as an example of community organization. To solve the problem, created a committee of representatives to follow the developments of the issue.
The fight for their rights has led villagers to organize themselves in the 'Association of Borrowers Coqueiros Park', with the support of the Community Council and reported on the engagement of the prosecution. To accompany the petition of the residents with the responsible agencies, the Bar Association was founded a newsletter and the first issue, typed, came in the form of bulletin on 25 October 1992. Thereafter, the newsletter has undergone constant changes. He began to be printed in offset, with sponsorship from some local merchants. Please be at the margin of the BR 406 and near the industrial district of Natal, their lands have benefited from the construction of infrastructure services, transport and small businesses.
One of the most significant equipment in the area is the State Hospital Maria Alice Fernandes, administered by the Benevolent Association of Social Assistance and Hospital (PRO-HEALTH). The hospital has had works completed in 1992, but remained seven years without work. Initially designed to work as a maternity hospital, it was opened as a pediatric hospital in 2001. The hospital had outsourced its administration in 2002, as transient, with funds transferred to the PRO-HEALTH, supervised by the State Department of Health and prosecutors.
The hospital is located at Pedro Álvares Cabral Street, the set of Coconut Park, north of the city of Natal, with 81 beds, green areas, parking, home support for mothers and playground. It is divided into blocks sectored. In it is located, also the station's water treatment CAERN - Company of Water and Sewerage Rio Grande do Norte, alongside the RN - 100 and opened in its first stage, on 11 November 1979, now disabled. To replace it, opened the second season, on 26 September 1992, now fully operational and with volume tripled in the first. The importance of this station is to provide approximately 70% of water consumed by the population of the Northern Zone, including the neighborhood of Nossa Senhora da Apresentação.
