Paul Romaines
Paul William Romaines is a first class cricketer.
Born in Bishop Auckland, County Durham on Christmas Day 1955, he played six matches for Northamptonshire (1975–76) before returning to his native Durham for five seasons (1977–81) prior to their attaining first-class status. An opening or mid-order batsman and occasional of off spinner, he played ten seasons with Gloucestershire CCC (1982–91), in which he played 161 first-class matches and one (1984–85) in South Africa for Griqualand West. His 8120 first-class runs at 28.39 included 13 hundreds, his best season being 1984 when he scored 1844 runs at 35.46.
He was, of course, nicknamed 'Human'.
Paul Romaines is now head of PSHE, Cricket and Assistant House Master in North Town at Clifton College in Bristol.
