Pauline Amos (born in Liverpool, UK) is an artist based in London.
She has combined performance and painting works since her 1999 Master of Arts degree, followed by a PhD with Professor Edward Cowie at Dartington College of Arts, and a series of performed works titled "My Flesh My Canvas" that led to many works in Europe and Asia.
Pauline Amos first came to media attention in 2005, with a painting on sale in London for £1.3m, a comment on the art/commodities markets. This was followed by a series of performance works, featured in The Times[1] newspaper. She has worked in the art collective Luxor with William Orbit[2][3] and Anna-mi Fredriksson.
The painting is one of a series created the Opera Paese Gallery in Roma, collaborating with Jeff Cloke and Tony Moore. Amos painted for 24 hours in the 3,000 square metre gallery. The painting became known as 'The £1.3m.'
In October 2009, Amos and classically trained dancer Anna-Mi Fredriksson paired up to present an exhibition and performance of painting, sound, and movement. William Orbit joined the collaboration and LUXOR[4] was created.
Her works include 'The Human Beast That Eats Itself.' A critique of the media's relationship with modern-day violence and the relentless fight for peace and freedom.[5]
She was interviewed and quizzed on Radio 4 Woman's Hour programme by Jenni Murray.[6]
Exhibitions: Carcass Canvases - exhibited 2013 at CnB Gallery, London[7]
