Location in Tamil Nadu

Peravurani railway station is a railway station serving the town of Peravurani in Tamil Nadu, India.

Background

The railway station is located just within the town. It was connected to Thiruthuraipoondi Junction towards north and Karaikkudi Junction towards south. The station was initially built with metre gauge infrastructure and had three passenger services daily with one express and two passenger trains. The nearest bus services were available at Peravurani town while the nearest airport is situated 90 kilometres (56 mi) away at Tiruchirapalli.[1]

Lines

The station lies between Thiruthuraipoondi Junction and Karaikkudi Junction. Presently, the station is devoid of any passenger services due to gauge conversion in the 187 kilometres (116 mi) stretch between Mayiladuthurai–Tiruvarur–Karaikudi segment to be executed at cost of 711 crore (US$110 million) sanctioned in 2007–2008,[2] but the conversion work progresses very slowly.[3][4][5]
