Petunia vein clearing virus (PVCV) is a virus of the family Caulimoviridae. This virus is known to infect plants, specifically Petunia hybrida. It carries a 7205 base pair genome of double-stranded DNA within isometric viral particles.[1] PVCV can exist as an endogenous provirus within the P. hybrida genome and may be induced by environmental stress or wounding.[2] Infections with PVCV may generally be asymptomatic under favorable growing conditions, though active infections may cause vein clearing or yellowing of leaves (chlorosis).[3]
