Plateau/Gorée

Plateau/Gorée (bottom, yellow) within Dakar Region.

Plateau/Gorée is a Communes d'arrondissement, comprising the city center and oldest colonial section of the Commune of Dakar, Senegal. At the 2002 census, Plateau/Gorée, mostly occupied by business and government, had a population of 34,626.

Plateau/Gorée Commune d'arrondissement is a subsection of the arrondissement of Dakar-Plateau. It is the historical heart of the city, and most ministries and public administrations are located there.

It is one of 19 Communes d'arrondissement within the Dakar Department, the borders of which match the Commune of Dakar.
