Premendra Mazumder is a film -author, -curator, -consultant, -society-activist, -festival-organizer, and -festival-consultant. He has participated in several round-table discussions, conducted workshops, delivered lectures, and presented papers on various topics at national and international conferences.[1][2][3][4][5][6] At the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival in 2015, he spoke on the 'Politics of Film and Social Dynamics' and on 'Trends in South Asian Independent Cinema' [7][8]

He works for the International Critics' Week Cannes (since 2006),[9] and for the Cairo International Film Critics Week [10] (since its inception). And presented the Celebration Ceremony of 100 Years of Indian Cinema in Croatia (May 2013).[11]

He has inaugurated various film societies,[12][13][14][15][16][17][18] and has been the chief guest at important film meets over the last decade.[19] Additionally, he initiated the 1st FFSI International Film Festival traveling in over 40 cities in India.[20][21] The Festival was inaugurated on 3 August 2015 in Kolkata.[22][23]

Writings on cinema

Premendra Mazumder's thoughts on cinema have been published in a variety of serious Indian film magazines; daily newspapers; and film journals - Screen, Rupwani, and DNA (Mumbai),[24] Cinemaya (Delhi), Filmbuff, College Street, Chitrabhavna, and Chitralipi (Kolkata), Deep Focus (Bangalore),.[25] The international film magazines in which his writings have appeared include Positif (Paris),[26] Subversive [27][28] Cinema (Portugal), Film Realm (Cairo), Cinesith (Colombo), 16mm (Dhaka), and Deepwani (Port Blair). He is also the Indian correspondent of the Cannes Critics Week.

Scripts and plays

He has written the screenplays for two Bengali feature films. He also occasionally subtitles films from Bengali and Hindi to English; three notable works: Third Person Singular Number (2009),[37] Necklace (2011),[38] and Shajarur Kanta (2015).[39] As a playwright he has five major plays to his credit.
