Pure Saturday is an Indonesian indie pop formed in Bandung, West Java. Formed in 1994, the group's current line-up consists of Ade Purnama, Arief Hamdani and Satrio NB Bambang.
Career
Their self-titled debut album was released on 1996 as an indie producton and marketed by mail order through a teen magazine. Produced by Ambari, manager of PAS Band, with a limited pressing of 5000 copies. A few months later, label Ceepee Production had signed a recording deal with the band and the first album was given a wider release. Its first single "Kosong" was very popular with the public and the album had received very positive response by music critics, it's music considered very fresh in the Indonesian music scene at the time. It was later ranked as the 16th greatest Indonesian album of all time by Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine, while "Kosong" was ranked 30th greatest Indonesian song of all time by the same magazine.
In 1999, after signing with Aquarius Musikindo, Pure Saturday return and released their third album, titled Utopia and it's accompanying single, "Bangku di Taman". Two years later, the band released their first EP’ album Pathetic Waltz The band had disappeared for a while from music industry due to their preoccupation with family and business. In 2004, vocalist Suar announced his departure from this band and manager Satrio joined them as the new vocalist. After that, the band's fourth studio album Elora, was released on March 2005 by FastForward Records.
In 2007, Pure Saturday released their fifth album, titled Time for a Change..Time to Move On, under the label Lil’fish Records.The album is a retrospective and told the story of their, at that time, 11 years long career. After five years, Pure Saturday released their sixth studio album titled Grey in 2011, it was released under Labyrinth Records.[1]
In 2015, twin brothers Aditya Ardinugraha and Yudistira Ardinugraha left the band due to their desire to focus on religion.[2]
