QiKU Internet Network Scientific (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.[1] The manufacturer is a joint venture between Chinese internet giant Qihoo 360 and telecommunications equipment manufacturer Coolpad, blending the former’s software expertise and the latter’s experience in smartphone manufacturing.[1]
360 OS Operating System
QiKU’s proprietary Android based operating system is the result of cooperation between Coolpad and Qihoo. With Qihoo's background in system security and power management, the 360 OS is defined by its focus on security, performance and battery life, rather than the bloatware and resource draining apps that have become the trademarks of other mobile operating systems.[2] 360 OS boasts features like Icebox to freeze unused apps, deep cleaning to clear hidden third party software and an enhanced performance mode that optimizes device performance basis usage.[2]
Products
QiKU launched Coolpad's Dazen brand of phones earlier this June - Dazen 1,[3] and Dazen X7,[4] running an indigenous interface in the 360 OS. The phones were launched via India’s leading e-commerce giant Snapdeal. The Dazen 1 soon became the top selling handset on Snapdeal, shipping over 100,000 phones in India.[5] On August 26, 2015, QiKU launched two new smartphones – QiKU Terra[6] and QiKU Luna[7] in China. They also launched Qiku Terra 810 in India and did the first sale on NDTV Gadget 360 where they went out of stock in first one hour.[8]
