RCAF Station Assiniboia was originally a Royal Air Force training station, hosting No. 34 Elementary Flying Training School (No. 34 EFTS). A relief (emergency) landing field was located near Lethburn, Saskatchewan.[1] This school used Tiger Moth aircraft.[2] No. 34 EFTS opened 11 February 1942 and closed 30 January 1944. No. 34 EFTS was incorporated into No. 25 EFTS (RCAF), which used the Fairchild Cornell.[2] No. 25 EFTS closed down 28 July 1944. Other units located at Assiniboia until the end of the war in 1945 include No. 41 Pre-Aircrew Training School, and No. 403 Aircraft Holding Unit.[1]
The aerodrome is now the Assiniboia Airport.
