Raja Bhaiya Poonchwale

Raja Bhaiya Poochwale (1882-1956) was an Indian musician from Gwalior Gharana.[1]

Raja Bhaiya was born on 12 August 1882 at Gwalior, Central India Agency (in present-day Madhya Pradesh). His original name was Balkrishna Anand Rao Altekar. His ancestors were jagirdars of Poonchh principality in Jhansi State (present-day Uttar Pradesh). He was famous for Taan, Sangeetopasna, Thumari, and Tarangini. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1956.[2] He died in 1956.[3]
