Redstone Federal Credit Union (or RFCU) is a federally chartered credit union based in Huntsville, Alabama. RFCU is Alabama’s largest credit union and is regulated and insured through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). RFCU operates 24 branches across North Alabama and Central Tennessee. RFCU has nearly 380,000 members and $4.4 billion USD in assets.[1] RFCU is ranked the 21st largest federal credit union in the United States by assets and the 36th largest credit union in the United States by assets[2] and 17th by membership[3] as of June 2015.

History

Redstone Federal Credit Union was chartered on November 28, 1951 in order to serve employees of the Redstone Arsenal. The credit union's initial membership consisted of eleven individuals with assets totaling $55, which was stored in a shoebox at the credit union's first office located at the arsenal.[4] Membership eligibility has expanded to include over 1,500 clubs, organizations, and employers.

Services

Products and services offered by Redstone Federal Credit Union include savings and checking accounts, small business financing and cash management solutions, and investment and insurance services. The credit union also has a real estate department which offers mortgage products and home equity loans. Redstone Federal Credit Union members have access to over 75,000 surcharge-free ATM's located throughout the United States.
