The Residents' Association of London is a minor political party in the United Kingdom, based in the London Borough of Havering. It has contested seats in elections to Havering London Borough Council, the London Assembly and the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. It has not won any elections and has no elected representatives, although the party leader, Malvin Brown was elected as a councillor in 2002 prior to the creation of the party in 2004, holding office until 2006 and Ron Ower, the candidate for Upminster constituency in 2005, has been elected to Havering Council as a Havering Residents Association member.

Registration

It was registered in 2004 with Malvin Brown as leader.[1]

It is registered separately from Havering Residents Association which stands for elections to Havering London Borough Council. Malvin Brown had been elected as a councillor for South Hornchurch in the 2002 London borough council elections.[2]

Election results

London Assembly

In the 2004 London Assembly elections Malvin Brown stood for the Havering and Redbridge constituency and received 6,925 votes.[3] In the 2012 London Assembly elections Malvin Brown stood again and received 8,239 votes.

UK Parliament

In the 2005 UK general election, two candidates stood (Malvin Brown in Hornchurch and Ron Ower in Upminster) who received a total of 1,850 votes.[4][5] Ron Ower was elected to Havering Council for Cranham ward at the May 2010 elections, representing Havering Residents Association.

Havering London Borough Council

In the 2006 London borough council elections, Malvin Brown stood as a candidate in the South Hornchurch ward and received 186 votes.[6] He also stood as a candidate at a by-election in that ward on 3 July 2008 and received 17 votes.[7]

Malvin Brown stood as a candidate for the Gooshays ward at a by-election on 21 March 2013 and received 24 votes.[8]
