Roc Oil Company Limited is an independent international petroleum company based in Sydney, Australia. The company was established in 1997 as a privately owned company. In 1999, the company went public by acquiring $150 million in IPO at Australian Stock Exchange. In 2004, the company got listed on London Stock Exchange. In 2008, Roc Oil merged with Anzon Energy Limited which included a takeover of its Australian division Anzon Australia Limited (AEL), a company established in 2003 by its founding director Stephen Koroknay.
The name of the company derives from a mythical Asian or Arabian bird Roc.
The company operates in Australia, China, Africa and UK. Estimated number of employees is 160.
