Ron Gillyard

Ron Gillyard is a record executive with nearly 20 years experience in the entertainment industry. He is a Grammy Award winner.[1]

Start in music

Gillyard started in the music business as an intern at Columbia Records. He has been employed by Clive Davis, Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment Worldwide; Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M; Irving Azoff, chairman of Live Nation Entertainment; and Sean "Diddy" Combs, owner of Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide (which includes the Sean John clothing line).

Some artists with whom he has worked include Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Luther Vandross, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Alicia Keys, India.Arie, Mary J. Blige, Sean Diddy Combs, Will Smith, 50 Cent and Eminem. In 2011 Gillyard was awarded his first Grammy award for his work as producer of Bebe & Cece Winans’ album "Still" (Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album).

Consulting career

Gillyard owns and operates Gillyard Entertainment, LLC, an entertainment management and consulting company. As a consultant Gillyard currently consults for a number of companies, including Syndicated Communications, Inc. (SCI). Advising on media investments and sales and acquisitions, Gillyard also consults with MyStudio/AfterMaster HD Audio, where he secures clients and negotiates deals for the Los Angeles-based company whose team of engineers created a new digital mastering system for audio recording.

Public service

Today, Gillyard sits on the board of the Washington, D.C.-based Congressional Award, which awards young people who provide exceptional service to their community. He serves on this esteemed board with corporate and community leaders from around the country and numerous congressman and senators, among others. He is a member of the bi-partisan transition team for the newly elected California Attorney General. Gillyard is also on the board of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, as well as a number of other entertainments, charitable and political entities.

Personal

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Gillyard graduated from Howard University with a degree in Finance. He is married with three children and resides in Los Angeles.
