Sabin Stakes
The Sabin Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race for older fillies and mares (four-year-olds and up) and is run at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. A Grade II stakes race, it's currently set at a distance of 1 1⁄16 mile on the dirt, and in 2016 offered a purse of $200,000 [1]
The Sabin was named for the multiple Grade I stakes-winning filly, Sabin. Born in 1980, she made 25 starts and won 18 of them. Now it is named after Royal Delta and called the Royal Delta Stakes.
The track record for a mile on dirt is held by Commentator, set on January 17, 2008 - 1:33.71.
This race was upgraded to a Grade II for its 2014 running.[2]
