Sam Griesemer, professionally known as Samo Sound Boy,[1] is an American DJ and producer of house music, and co-founder/existing label head of the Los Angeles record label Body High.[1][3]
Early life
Griesemer was born in Manhattan, New York and grew up in New Hampshire.
Music career
In September 2010, Samo Sound Boy made his production debut with his Taking It All EP for New York based record label Palms Out Sound, a six-track EP that also featured remixes from LOL Boys, Brenmar, and Mele.[4] His more recent work has been released through his own label, Body High.[5] He has been lauded for making music to facilitate dancing whilst crying.[6]
Body High
In 2011, Samo Sound Boy founded the record label Body High with likeminded DJ/producer Jerome LOL, serving as the preeminent platform for underground dance music and bittersweet bangers in America.[1][6] Outside of Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL, artists on Body High's roster include DJ Funeral, DJ Sliink, Jim-E Stack, Todd Edwards, Myrryrs, and Floyd Campbell.[3]
Samo Sound Boy has released 3 EP's through Body High — the 5 Dollar Paradise EP in September 2012[7] the Your Love EP in October 2013 and "Open / Divine" in March 2014 The EPs have received nods from Pitchfork, The FADER, amongst others.[8][9]
DJ Dodger Stadium
Samo Sound Boy is one-half of the recording duo DJ Dodger Stadium a.k.a. DJDS, a house music collaboration with DJ/producer Jerome Potter, professionally known as Jerome LOL.[10] DJ Dodger Stadium released their first EP Stadium Status on Body High in October 2011, and their debut LP "Friend of Mine" on Body High in July 2014. Their second album "Stand Up And Speak" dropped in February 2016, and they also contributed the beat for "Fade" from Kanye West's album The Life of Pablo.
