Samsung SDS
Samsung SDS, established in 1985, as a subsidiary of Samsung group has been providing information technology services. These include consulting services (Business Strategy and Discrete IT and Network Consulting); technical services (Packaged and Customized Application Integration, Hardware and Software Implementation and Support, and IT Education); and outsourcing services (Business Process Outsourcing, Application and IT Infrastructure Outsourcing and Network Infrastructure Management). SDS is expanding its business area by investing on R&D and emerging IT technologies such as U-city, RFID and Engineering Outsourcing. SDS provides its IT services by operating 11 offices and data centers in 11 countries.
History
- 2012: Established SDS branch in Russia and Vietnam
- 2008: Launched open source based SW Framework "Anyframe"
- 2007: Established SDS Asia Pacific in Malaysia, Awarded the prize of "Asian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises"
- 2006: Established SDS Asia Pacific, a corporation in Singapore
- 2005: Awarded "The project of the Year", Awarded the prize of "Asian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises", Obtained 10 P-CMM Level3
- 2004: BS 15000 Certification, an international standard of IT service
- 2003-2000: Opened Tijuana Data Center
- 1989-1990: Established SDS China and SDS America, Opened Samsung Multicampus
- 1985-1989: Opened Technology research institute, Established Samsung Data System
The company’s staff of 7,000 IT-related workers— including about 95 engineers, 1,150 masters or doctorate degree holders, and 530 IT developers and business consultants—have experience gained through hundreds of projects.
SDS operates ‘Samsung SDS Multi-Campus’, the largest IT education institute in Korea, and requires that employees allocate 10% of their individual working hours to education.
In 2007, SDS ranked No.1 in domestic IT service market share and it has never lost its leading position for number of years.
Its success overseas has yet to be verified, as the number of offices abroad are not all incorporated.
