Sanhita Nandi is a prominent Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana.[1][2] The central motif of her style is slow tempo raga development (voice culture, voice throw, and tonal application) and ornamented sargams.Sanhita Nandi has rightly established herself as a leading exponent of Khayal, earning high acclaim from discerning critics and enthusiastic audiences on an international scale. Sanhita has developed a distinctive singing style based on firm grounding of traditional training (or taleem), combining pure lyricism with impeccable technique.To further enrich her repository of Kirana Lineage and traditional compositions, Sanhita continues to get trained under the able guidance of Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan.The heart of her music is the slow, leisurely development of Raag Bhava in Merukhand style in Ati vilambit. The vistar is richly embellished by meend, harkat, and sargams. As the badhat gets slowly ornamented in the choicest pearls of melodic variations that build the sculpture of the raga, it slowly gets decorated into faster tempo where it befriends sargams, chota khayal, tarana and soft silky sapat taans .Extreme care is taken not to disrupt the Raag Bhava even in faster tempo .Even the phirat adds to the wet, warmth of feelings embedded in the raga.

Sanhita maintains an elegant balance between the traditional and the original. She builds the citadel of her Khayal on the firm foundations of Kirana Gharana and erects the pillars of original creativity with her profound individuality that she has carefully nurtured.

Early life

Sanhita Nandi was trained under the late Pandit A. Kanan of Kirana Gharana,[3] the senior most guru at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy.

Sanhita Nandi has travelled extensively to perform, both within and outside of India. She has been invited to perform at India's top prime music festivals such as Sawai Gandharva Music Festival; Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior; Saptak Festival of Music in Ahmedabad;Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan in Jalandhar; ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata; SPIC MACAY;Gururao Deshpande Sangeet Sabha in Bangalore; Laxmi Narayan Sangeet Samaroha in Amritsar;Parampara Dance and Music Festival, Samaagamaa Festival, and KM Music Conservatory in Chennai; Ustad Rahmat Khan Sangeet Sammelan in Dharwad; Samrat Sangeet Sammelan in Goa; Yashwant Rao Chauhan Smriti Sangeet Samaroha in Maharashtra; Glimpses of Kirana Gharana Music Festival in Hyderabad; Dadar Matunga Cultural Center and Sangit Mahabharti in Mumbai.
