Eng Dr Sarath Abayawardana is a former Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Sri Lanka.
Biography
Early life and education
After being a brilliant student at Nalanda College Colombo he entered University of Ceylon and passed out as a Mechanical Engineer with a BSc First Class Honours pass and becoming first in the entire engineering batch. He pursued further studies and obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of London. He is a Fellow of Institution of Chemical Engineers, London and Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.
Career
He also had held the positions of Technical Director at Unilevers Sri Lanka Ltd, International Researcher and Head of Sri Lanka Programme for International Water Management Institute till 2007.
Honors
He was awarded the Engineering Excellence Award 2011
