Sepahan Airlines (Persian: هواپيمايي سپاهان) is an airline based in Isfahan, Iran. The company is an internal division of the manufacturer Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA) and operates HESA-assembled Antonov An-140 turboprop aircraft. Prior to the 10 August 2014 crash, 6 IrAn-140 aircraft were operated.[1] Following this crash, the Iranian IrAn-140 fleet was grounded, pending outcome of the investigation,[2] leading to cessation of Sepahan Airlines flights.

But after Sepahan Airlines Flight 5915 crash flying An 140 is banned in Iran and all remaining five planes are grounded.[4][5]

Accidents and incidents

Flight 5915

On 10 August 2014, a HESA IrAn-140 operating flight SPN 5915, to Tabas crashed near Tehran Mehrabad International Airport, killing at least 39 passengers.[6][7] The plane had taken off from the airport moments earlier at 9:45 hours local time (0515 GMT), before at least one of its engines failed.[8]
