Sheldon High School or SHS is a 9th-12th grade college-preparatory high school located in Sacramento County, California, next to the city limits of Elk Grove, California. The school was established in 1997 as part of the Elk Grove Unified School District.
History
The name is from the town of Sheldon on Grant Line Road, active in gold activity of the 1850s on the Cosumnes River. Jared Dixon Sheldon, for whom the town was named, was an adventurer, entrepreneur, pioneer, and farmer of the Cosumnes River - Sloughhouse area. In 1844, Sheldon obtained the Rancho Omochumnes Mexican land grant. Seven years later, Sheldon was shot by gold miners who objected to the dam he had built to irrigate his crops because it flooded their claims.

Stadium
The Sheldon-Pleasant Grove Community Stadium is a multi-use outdoor stadium used by Sheldon High School during their home games. It used as the home stadium for the Sheldon and Pleasant Grove football teams as well as the Sheldon soccer teams. It contains painted lines suitable for football (white) and soccer (yellow) as well as football field goal uprights and soccer goals with nets. The stadium is also shared with nearby rival school, Pleasant Grove High School, for their football games due to PGHS not having a stadium on site. When both Sheldon and Pleasant Grove are playing against each other, the school year will determine whose home game it is. School years ending with odd numbers (i.e. 2009, 2011, etc.) are Sheldon's home games, while even years (i.e. 2010, 2012, etc.) are Pleasant Grove's home games. The stadium was renovated beginning in Summer 2009 and ending in Summer 2010. The field was finished by the 2009 football season, with MondoTurf. The new field does not require sprinklers or mowing, which reduces cost. The track was finished by the 2010 track and field season. A disabled access ramp and sitting area has been added and finished in Summer 2010.
