Smart Ass Black Boy
Smart Ass Black Boy is the second studio album by American rapper Fat Tony.[6] It was released on Young One Records in 2013.[7] Written in two days and recorded in four days,[8] the album is entirely produced by Tom Cruz.[9] Music videos were created for "BKNY",[10] "Hood Party",[11] and "Smart Ass Black Boy".[12]
Reception
David Jeffries of AllMusic gave Smart Ass Black Boy 4 stars out of 5, noting "a laid-back, warm, Andre 3000-styled flow, some golden age swagger, plus a never-ending supply of witty lyrics" as the appeal of the album.[1] Nick De Molina of XXL called it "a fine example of how to make a smart, cohesive album without a clear-cut narrative to guide the listener along".[5]
Smart Ass Black Boy was listed by Houston Press as one of the "11 Best Houston Releases of 2013".[13] In 2015, "Hood Party" was ranked at number 46 on Dallas Observer's "50 Best Texas Rap Songs" list.[14]
