SoftDEL focuses on real time, embedded and PC-hosted software development and hardware design across process and factory automation, building automation and test and measurement domain. It is headquartered in Magarpatta Pune, India, and has offices in North America and Japan.

- Process and factory automation – SoftDEL is an independent provider of R&D services to process automation product companies.SoftDEL offers range of engineering services in new product development, legacy product sustenance, industry standard validation and verification services.
- Building automation[1]
- Industrial wireless – SoftDEL offers services to its customers to wireless enable its products based on 802.15.4, 802.11, RFID and proprietary wireless implementation. SoftDEL was recently invited to participate on the ISA 100 standards committee.
- Test and measurement – SoftDEL offers services in custom application and embedded software for field test controllers, analyzers, spectrometers and specialty instruments etc.
Evolution
UniDEL Group
Commencing with electromechanical instrument design and manufacture in the early 1970s, the UniDEL Group ventured into automation, engineering and technology businesses. UniDEL group founded and managed Eurotherm DEL India Ltd.,[2] SSD Drives India Pvt. Ltd.,[3] Land DEL Infrared Pvt. Ltd.[4]
SoftDEL Systems
SoftDEL was founded by Sunil Dalal[5] in 2000 as a part of the UniDEL Group [6] of companies. In 2008 SoftDEL signed a partnership deal with Canada’s Matrikon Inc. to create Matrikon-SoftDEL India.[7]
Timeline
- 2000 - Brand "UniDEL Group" launched with Digital Electronics, Eurotherm DEL and SoftDEL Systems as group companies
- SoftDEL Systems Pvt. Ltd incorporated with operations in Mumbai.
- Established the first overseas office in US
- 2004 - Participation in an international exhibition ISA Expo held in Houston
- 2005 - Nominated by NASSCOM as one of the top 5 Innovative IT companies in India[8]
- 2006 - Established a new development Centre in Pune, India
- BACnet International authorized SoftDEL as the only BTL certification lab worldwide for BACnet compliance
- 2007 - SoftDEL forms partnership with Dhowa Technos Japan to focus on the Japanese market
- 2008 - SoftDEL inks a Joint Entity agreement with Matrikon Inc. to support Matrikon’s product development initiatives and global project consulting – Matrikon SoftDEL Pvt Ltd instituted
- SoftDEL sets up a branch office in Japan

SoftDEL operates out of its "innovation center" in Magarpatta,[13] Pune.
Industry alliances
- BACnet - BACnet International is an organization that encourages the successful use of BACnet in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing educational programs, and promotional activities. In May 2006 BACnet International reached an agreement to establishing a test lab for BACnet products at SoftDEL systems, Pune.[14] The BACnet lab at SoftDEL is ISO 17025 accredited.[15]
- International Society of Automation (ISA) - The International Society of Automation is a global, nonprofit organization that is setting the standard for automation by helping over its members and other professionals solve difficult technical problems. SoftDEL is the Information Member[16] of ISA providing it with technical information, professional development resources, and opportunities to network with other automation professionals.
- Modbus–IDA – The Modbus Organization is a group of independent users and suppliers of automation devices that seek to drive the adoption of the Modbus communication protocol suite and the evolution to address architectures for distributed automation systems across multiple market segments.[17]
- Windows Embedded - Windows Embedded consists of Microsoft Windows Embedded CE, Microsoft Windows Embedded XP and Microsoft Windows Embedded for Point of Service is the best set of embedded tools and technology that helps in building reliable, powerful and intelligent embedded devices.
- OPC Foundation - OPC is open connectivity via open standards. It is an open connectivity in industrial automation and the enterprise systems that support industry. Interoperability is assured through the creation and maintenance of open standards specifications. SoftDEL Systems is the Corporate Member [18] providing OPC compliance to different products.
