Sons of Kyuss is the debut self-released EP from American rock band Kyuss. This EP marks the band's only release prior to shortening its moniker from "Sons of Kyuss" to simply "Kyuss".
With an original pressing of only 500 copies,[2] the EP has become very rare. It was reissued on CD in 1995 as a "Special Limited Remastered Farewell Edition" with tracks from a gig in Germany added as bonus material,[3] then in 2000 for the 10 year anniversary.[4] LP reissues followed in 2009.[5] All versions are bootlegs (both CD versions are taken from an inferior vinyl copy), and no official reissue of the EP has ever been released.
The tracks "Deadly Kiss", "Isolation Desolation", "Love Has Passed Me By", "Black Widow" and "Katzenjammer" were later included on the band's debut album Wretch. "Isolation Desolation", "Love Has Passed Me By" and "Katzenjammer" were re-recorded, while the Sons of Kyuss versions of "Deadly Kiss" and "Black Widow" were included on the album.
The album was released on clear vinyl with a slight turquoise tinge. Bootleg reissues of the album from 2009 were made using dark green wax or fully transparent vinyl.
