Spinnup

Spinnup is an online digital music distribution service that launched early 2013. Spinnup offers an aggregator service to musicians and unsigned artists so they can distribute their music worldwide via online retailers such as Spotify, iTunes, Tidal, Rhapsody, Amazon Music and Google Play. The site also has a network of ‘scouts’ who are looking to discover and mentor new talent on Spinnup and help them find a record deal.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

History and overview

Spinnup was developed and launched by Universal Music.[11] Spinnup operates in Sweden, Denmark, UK and Germany but is available worldwide for distribution.[12]

In July 2014 Spinnup launched in the UK with Island Records[13][14] the same month as Albin, a Swedish artist who signed a record deal with Universal Music after using Spinnup to distribute his track "Din Soldat", reached number one in Sweden with the song.[15] Later that year Swedish house music duo Vigiland followed with a record contract with Universal Music after emerging through Spinnup.[16]

New artists who have signed record deals in 2015 after using Spinnup and being 'Scouted' include Mavrick,[17] Alfons and IRO in Sweden[18] and Model Aeroplanes who were the first UK band to sign to Island Records through Spinnup.[19]
