Star Wars Action News is a podcast that describes itself as "the first and only podcast dedicated to Star Wars collecting." The show is hosted by Arnie and Marjorie Carvalho, a married couple from Illinois,[1] who were described by Lucasfilm as "some of the biggest Star Wars collectors in the world".[2]

Regular segments include reports of the latest Star Wars merchandise available in stores and online, reviews of Star Wars comics and novels, and an Ebay item of the Week focusing on weird Star Wars items, such as a chicken nugget shaped like Jabba the Hutt. One of the most popular segments is the weekly destruction of a classic "Star Wars" collectible. The show also reviews high-end collectibles, such as Master Replicas and Gentle Giant items. The show regularly has ongoing series including "Collecting 101" series which provides a basic overview of being a Star Wars collector including what to buy and how to care for a collection, and "30 years of Collecting" which reviewed an item released each year from 1977 through 2007.

There have also been interviews on the show with many Star Wars personalities such as Samuel L. Jackson and Steve Sansweet, Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, and various Star Wars authors including Alan Dean Foster, Donald F. Glut, James Kahn, L. Neil Smith, Troy Denning, Aaron Allston, Karen Traviss, James Luceno, and Timothy Zahn. Musician Richard Cheese was also interviewed discussing his rendition of the Imperial March.

The show has covered New York Toy Fair from 2007 through 2010, San Diego Comic Con from 2006 to 2010 as well as Star Wars Celebration IV in 2007, Star Wars Celebration Europe in 2007, Star Wars Celebration Japan in 2008, and Star Wars Celebration 5 in 2010. The hosts performed a live show in 2009 at San Diego Comic Con on the Kotobukiya Stage where they interviewed Steve Sansweet, Robot Chicken writers Dan Milano, Doug Goldstein, and Mike Fasolo, authors Gus Lopez and Duncan Jenkins, as well as several representatives from Star Wars collectible manufacturers.[3]

In addition, the hosts have performed several panels at various conventions across the United States including Pittsburgh ComicCon,[4] Star Wars Celebration 4,[5] and Star Wars Celebration 5.[6]

Star Wars Action News also has several spin-off podcasts, including Republic Forces Radio Network where a panel of hosts review each episode of the Clone Wars animated series, and The Star Wars Action News Book Club reviewing all the Star Wars novels released.

This podcast was featured on G4's Attack of the Show segment Blog Watch on June 11, 2007[7] as well as in the film documentary The Force Among Us.[8] The show had a featured article in the book Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book: Identification & Values by Geoffrey T. Carlton.
