Stephen MacMahon
Stephen MacMahon is one of the founders of the George Institute for Global Health.[1][2] He currently holds positions as Principal Director of The George Institute for Global Health (worldwide)[3] He was formerly the Executive Director of the George Centre for Healthcare Innovation at the University of Oxford. He also holds professorial appointments in medicine at both the University of Sydney[3] and the University of Oxford, where he is a James Martin Professorial Fellow.[4] He is a specialist in cardiovascular disease,[3] and also researches the treatment of chronic disease in the Asia-Pacific region.
MacMahon is the Chairman of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the UK Biobank[5] and the Executive Chairman of George Clinical Pty Ltd, subsidiaries of the George Institute. He sits on the board of several other not-for-profit organisations, including the Oxford Health Alliance.[6] He has published more than 300 scientific papers and delivered more than 200 invited lectures. He has received awards for his work on cardiovascular disease[3] and was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy in March 2012.[7]
