Steve Owen is an Australian motor racing driver. Owen has an extensive driving CV, from Karts, to Formula Ford, Formula Holden, Sprintcars, V8 Supercar and is one of two dual champions of the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series. In 2016, Steve is driving for ProDrive Racing Austalia in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, driving alongside Chaz Mostert in the #55 Supercheap Auto Ford FGX Falcon.
Career
Owen was introduced to Karting when he commenced working at the Carroll & Richardson International Go-Kart Entertainment Centre on a casual basis in Nunawading, Victoria, in the early 1990s. Owen worked initially as a Track Marshal and then as a Mechanic.Owen is a two-time winner of the V8 Supercar Development series, having won it in 2008 for Scott Loadsman Racing and 2010 for Greg Murphy Racing. Owen also has many years experience racing in Australia's leading motor racing series, the International V8 Supercars Championship.
Owen's most significant achievements in the International V8 Supercars Championship have been winning the 2015 Wilson Security Sandown 500 driving with Mark Winterbottom and a race win at the 2010 Armor All Gold Coast 600 as a co-driver for Jamie Whincup. He has also scored several podiums, most notably second at the 2010 and 2015 editions of the Bathurst 1000, and third at the 2013 Wilson Security Sandown 500.
