Original Music
In a prank on Brandon, Taya (Tater Tot) and Ross improvised a harmonized song called "Mother's Milk," telling Brandon it was a Joni Mitchell song. The song immediately became a cast inside joke, and has been reproduced on several episodes by the cast as well as many fans in many formats. While the lyrics vary slightly depending on the deliverer, they follow a simple improvised poem that is some approximation of the following:
"Mother's milk from her teat
On my knees for her teat
How I need mother's milk from her teat."
Friend of the show Jackie Beat has provided several original and semi-original pieces for the show, including "Mandatory Kisses," "I am at a Ross," "I Just Care About Myself," and "Mandatory Milk," however, none of these songs have been as well-received as "Mother's Milk."
Additionally, several listeners have contributed sound content, most notably Cookie Olaphante, who contributed songs such as "Mark Song", "Pocketful of Tater", "I Will Always Love Steve", "What Should I Say (The Ross-Daria Palm Springs Vacation Song),
Are You Smarter Than Mark?
Beginning in week 10, the STWRM team began playing Are You Smarter Than Mark.[7] In this game, co-host Mark Degenkolb and a call-in contestant are asked 5 questions each about current events, popular culture, or a special topic (i.e. Ireland trivia, cooking trivia, etc.). If the question is answered correctly, the contestant gets 2 points added to their total score. If the question is answered incorrectly, the opponent gets a chance to steal the question with a correct answer for 1 point. If after 10 rounds the score is tied, a tiebreaker question is employed. The tiebreaker is usually a number and the contestant who gets closest wins. If the call-in contestant has more points than Mark at the end of the game, they are the winner and smarter than Mark. If the call-in contestant has less points than Mark at the end of the game, they are the loser and not as smart as Mark and must listen to Tyra Banks' rant from Season 5 of America's Next Top Model.
Mark has a record of 14-35-1 as of 1/15/16.
