The Sunday Football League (SFL) is an amateur association football level 5 league in Lithuania. The league was established in 2005. It is managed by VšĮ „Sekmadienio futbolo lyga“. Players from higher leagues except top Lithuanian division - A Lyga are not prohibited from playing in SFL

History

2005 season

Established in 2005 in Vilnius. In the first season 19 teams participated in SFL (A division - 9 teams, B division - 6, C division 4).

2006 season

In 2006 SFL included 24 teams(A division - 8, B division - 8, C division - 8).

2007 season

In 2007 37 teams participated, divided into 4 divisions (A division - 10, B division - 10, C division - 10, D1 division 7 (spring), and 9 (autumn)

2008 season

In 2009 48 teams participated in Vilnius region (A division - 10, B division - 10, C division - 10, D 1 division - 9, D 2 division - 9), and 5 teams in Klaipėda SFL competition.

2009 season and teams

In 2009 season 60 teams and 2500 players participated in Vilnius SFL. The league significantly expanded beyond Vilnius region to Klaipėda, Alytus and Šakiai. Among the SFL participants were former professional footballers Raimondas Žutautas, Vaidas Žutautas, Eimantas Poderis, Ričardas Zdančius, Aidas Preikšaitis and some celebrities such as former professional basketball player Rolandas Skaisgirys, singers Gabrielius Liaudanskas-Svaras and Linas Zareckas-Choras, actor Andrius Bialobžeskis, politician Juozas Olekas . Fifteen SFL teams participated in 2009/2010 LFF cup.

During Vilnius SFL 660 games 2622 goals were shot or 3,97 average goals per game.

A division top scorer - Arsenijus Bujnickis (Bekentas) 36 goals.

Biggest defeat - 14:0 in B division game between Fakyrai and Reaktorius.

Cards - 1297 yellow cards (1,97 on average) and 106 red cards (0,16 on average)

2010 season

In 2010 a number of participating teams in Vilnius SFL should not change. Five teams stopped their participation (Klevas, Fortūna, Kolobki, Spartakas and Animus) but five new applications were registered (ZPL, Visinčia, Olandai, Pionieriai and Extra).
