Sunny Viswanath (സണ്ണി വിശ്വനാഥ്, malayāḷam ?) is an Indian composer and music producer. His works are notable for integrating eastern classical music with electronic music sounds, world music genres and traditional orchestral arrangements.[1]
Early life
He started learning music at the age of 35 and performing with amateur bands since the age of 7. By the age of 14, he was into the world of professional music. Sunny learned seven instruments of which Tabla[2] remains his favorite. He has performed with local and national bands worldwide. He was educated at Kendriya Vidyalaya Kozhikode.[3]
Career
Sunny composed music for four films. 1. Kshatriyan 2. Sthithi ,3. Israa [4] for which he introduced for the first time international singers Anneli Rydahl from Sweden[5] and Australian singer Seraya. 4. Sambar Sambar movie[6]
He has also done music for two albums 1.Janmangalai [7] 2.malayali penne 3. Worked with Serena Kern[8][9] (Uk) doing the musical arrangements for her songs Lullaby[10][11] and Better to have loved [12][13]
Apart from that Sunny has featured various International singers like Zenya Bashford[14] (US), Samantha Coe [15] (UK),Felicitas Geiger(Germany)[16] Jemimah G (Australia), Keren Port (Israel), Iselin B (Norway), Heidi Jarvis (US), Violet Won (China), Khalida Saud (Pak) and also Indian playback singers like Sunidhi Chauhan, Vasundhara Das, Sunita Rao, Jonita Gandhi[17] Neha Bhasin,[18] Srinivas, Rahul Seth, Kavitha Paudwal, Sagarika,[19] Sneha Pant,[20] Pia Sukanya,[21] Zublee Baruah,[22] Priyadarsini, Devan Ekambaram[23]], Divya Vijay,[24] Manjari Babu, Gayathri, Afsal, Ranjini Jose, Jyotsna, Delsy Ninan,[5] Sunita Sudheer, Sainoj, Sharmi La, Sunil Kumar, Ajith etc. He has also featured actors like Suresh Gopi, Divya Palat and Lena. Sunny has associated with lyricists Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Shibu Chakravarthy, Khanesh Punoor etc.
Sunny worked with Magnasound for close to 6 years as an A&R and later as Product Manager. Also as a Consultant A&R with Bayshore Records (2 years). During his tenure, he has been instrumental in being part of the A&R team producing more than 50 music albums.
As a journalist, he has written columns on Mathrubhumi for its Film publication Chithrabhumi for 5 years and also as a Bureau chief of Southern Side Magazine.[25]
As an event Manager and an artist co-ordinator, he has done many events[26] in India, US, UK, UAE, rest of Europe, Malaysia and Australia
Personal life
He is married to Priya Viswanath and is settled in Ayyanthole, Thrissur.
