Surrey County Council election, 1965, Guildford
The 1965 elections for Surrey County Council were held on Saturday 27 March.[1] These were the first elections held under new county boundaries for Surrey. These new boundaries for Surrey came about due to the creation of the Greater London Council, the GLC, as part of the area which had historically been within the northern part of the county of Surrey was administratively transferred from Surrey to Greater London.
The results within the Guildford area of Surrey County Council saw the Conservatives win seven of the nine electoral divisions and Labour win two.
Labour and Conservatives were the only parties to contest seats in the Guildford electoral divisions in the 1965 vote. One electoral division Worplesdon was uncontested and the Conservative candidate in Worplesdon was returned unopposed.
