Major Theodore Frederick "Freddy" Jayewardene was a Ceylonese politician.[1] A former member of the parliament from Colombo south and was a parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Labour.[2] A rural sociologist, he served in the Ceylon Light Infantry, a reservist regiment of the Ceylon Defence Force reaching the rank of Major.
He was the son of Colonel T. G. Jayewardene and Lena Attygalle. His cousin J R Jayewardene became the President of Sri Lanka. Jayewardene married Philis Gunesekera, their daughter Thileka Jayewardene married Cecil Waidyaratne who became a General and Commander of the Sri Lankan Army.
