Tafseer-e-Quadri
Tafseer-e-Quadri, is a three volume Tafsir of the Quran.
The tafseer (commentary) is divided into three volumes. The Ist volume was translated by Shaik-Ul-Shuyookh Hazrat Syed Muhammad Umar Husaini Quadri, a Deccan scholar, with the remaining two volumes translated by his son and successor,Shaikh-Al-Islam Hazrat Moulana Syed Muhammad Pasha Husaini Quadri.
Volume I (Surat 17 Bani Israel to Surat 48 Fatah )
The I volume is based on about 11 ½ parts of the Quran and is spread across 2025 pages, including a forty-page foreword. Syed Muhammad Umar had been giving a series of commentaries on the Quran after Friday prayers at Makkah Masjid, Hyderabad, India, and had completed 14 parts before deciding to publish officially. The translation was started in the month of Ramzan, 1319AH in a monthly journal, and was based on 32 pages. This continued till his death in 1330AH, when he died at the age of 48.
Volume II (Surat 49 Hujrat to Surat 114 Naas)
This volume is based on 4200 pages - commentary of about 4½ parts. After his death, his son and successor Hazrat Moulana Syed Muhammad Pasha Husaini Quadri continued the series of commentaries at Makkah Masjid, but the publication was delayed until 1372AH.
Volume III (Surat 1 Al-Fatiha to Surat 2 Al Baqarah, Ayath no.36)
After the completion of the thirtieth part of the commentary, Syed Muhammad Pasha started the commentary from Surat Al Fatiha in order to complete the commentary work of the first fourteen parts. This work was stopped on his death in Rabi' al-thani 1384AH. By this time, he had completed the commentary of Surat Al Fatiha and 36 Ayaths of Surat Al Baqara.
