Taftan Air
Taftan Air is an airline based in Iran.
History
Taftan Air has one time previously ceased operations as it filed for bankruptcy in 2006. In 2014, it acquired four Fokker 50 aircraft from Qeshm Airlines and thereby resumed its domestic services. In November 2015, Taftan Air acquired an ex-Iran Air Tours MD82 aircraft and now 9 months later the airline is prepared to welcome its first passengers. The first flight will depart from Zahedan to Tehran during the next week and the second flight will occur in two weeks when it departs Chabahar for Tehran. According to Mr. Haghighi, the fleet consists of 3 Boeing/MD and 2 Fokker 50 aircraft. During the next year, there are plans to buy aircraft with higher capacity. Zahedan and Chabahar, both situated in the Sistan Baluchistan Province, will be Taftan Air’s home base province. Previously reported on Aviation Iran’s Twitter, Taftan Air announced that traditional uniforms will be used on its inaugural flights from the province.
Destinations
The airline is keen to commence new routes as soon as possible with the routes Zabol – Tehran, Iranshahr – Tehran, Zahedan – Shiraz, Zahedan – Gorgan, Zahedan – Chabahar and Zahedan – Mashhad being considered.
