Teremok
Teremok (Russian: Теремок) is a popular fast food chain in Russia[1] that specializes in Russian crepes (blini).[2] The company was founded in 1999.[3] Teremok restaurants are operating in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. There are currently 174 outlets in the two Russian cities.[4]
History
The first Teremok opened in 1998 in a street kiosk in Moscow. It offered a limited set of crêpes. This was one of the first fast food chains in Russia that was offering Russian food trying to compete with McDonald's.
There are currently 3 types of Teremok outlets: street kiosks,[5] food court outlets in shopping malls or airports, and restaurants.
Fare
The original menu of Teremok was composed of several types of blini and kvass. Eventually the menu was augmented with porridges, soups and various desserts. The company's menu consists of the following items in recent times.
- Blini: Savory (with meat, ham, cheese, mushrooms, salmon and caviar[2][6] fillings) and Sweet (with berries, jam[3] and chocolate fillings[3])
- Porridge: buckwheat and Guryev Kasha
- Soups: borscht, fish broth, mushroom broth, porridges,[3] fish broth
- Salads
- Desserts
- Beverages: kvass,[3] medovukha, cider, mors
A children's meal is available consisting of a small pancake with any filling or porridge, сhocolate egg with a toy and fruit juice.
