The Academy School is an independent preparatory school for boys and girls aged between 6 and 13. It is located in Hampstead, London and has been operating since 1997. [1]
Operation
Children are accepted at any point in the academic year and at any point in their academic career.
The culture is very much one of the acceptance of individualism. Children are encouraged to be themselves, to take advantage of their strengths and to work on their weaknesses. The school is flexible and class sizes are small which allows a level of individual attention in a way that is not possible in larger schools. The culture of the school extends to the choice of teachers and many of them are truly inspired. The feel of the school is perhaps closest to a small village school, albeit a rather academic one.
The school aims to '...give pupils the confidence and grounding they require in order to meet their objectives and achieve entrance into their next schools... Within a culture of mutual respect and equality, the school also aims for the children to value themselves as the individuals they are'.[2]
The Academy School has received consistently high ratings from sources such as the The Good Schools Guide.[3]
