The Incredibles 2 is an upcoming 2018 American 3D computer-animated superhero film, the sequel to The Incredibles (2004). It is in production by Pixar Animation Studios, and will be released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is being written and directed by Brad Bird, the director of the original film. The film is set to be released on June 15, 2018.[2]

Production
Director Brad Bird stated in 2007 that he was open to the idea of a sequel, if he could come up with an idea superior to the original film: "I have pieces that I think are good, but I don't have them all together."[3] During an interview in May 2013, Bird reiterated his interest in making a sequel: "I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have. Because I love those characters and love that world." He continues, "I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get 'em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that."[4]
At the Disney shareholders meeting in March 2014, Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger confirmed that Pixar is working on a sequel to The Incredibles, with Bird returning as writer.[5] Later that month, Samuel L. Jackson told Digital Spy that he would likely reprise his role as Frozone in the sequel.[6] In April 2015, Bird revealed to NPR that he had begun writing the screenplay for the sequel.[7] In May 2015, Bird confirmed that the Incredibles sequel would be his next film following Tomorrowland.[8] He also stated that the film will not reflect trends in the superhero genre since the first film's release, explaining, "I don't think that kind of idea stays interesting for very long. For me, the interesting thing was never the superhero part of it. It was more the family dynamic, and how do superhero things play into that."[9]
In August 2015, the sequel's logo was revealed at D23 Expo.[10] In October 2015, Bird confirmed that Michael Giacchino will return to compose the score.[11] In November 2016, it was confirmed that Holly Hunter was returning to voice Helen Parr/Elastigirl.[1]
Release
The film was originally scheduled for theatrical release on June 21, 2019, but on October 26, 2016 the film was moved to June 15, 2018, while its former 2019 release date was taken by Toy Story 4, which was lagging in production compared to this film.[12]
