Tenacious D plays "The Metal" regularly at concerts, in 2006-2007, on the Pick of Destiny tour, the song was accompanied by JR Reed (as "Lee") in a dancing armored costume. Whilst on tour, the costume appeared on Saturday Night Live and at the Spike Video Game Awards. Reed would reoccur his role at festivals and benefit concerts between 2008-10 until Mike Bray took over the role for the August 2013 European tour and at the 2013 edition of Festival Supreme. The costume was auctioned off to help fund victims of the November 2015 Paris attacks in December 2015.[1]
