The Mountain Between Us is a romance-disaster novel, written by American author Charles Martin. The Story focuses on Dr. Ben Payne and writer Ashley Knox, both of whom injured got stuck on High Uintas Wilderness as they survived a plane crash.[1]

The novel was published by Broadway Books on June 28, 2011.[2] A film adaptation staring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet is set for release on October 20, 2017.[3]

Plot

Dr. Max Payne and writer Ashley Knox's flight for east, from Salt Lake City airport, on a stormy winter get cancelled. Both of them are in hurry, Payne for his patient's schedule surgeries and Knox for her impending wedding. Payne hires a charter plane and offer Knox a seat but unfortunately for them their pilot suffers a heart attack during flight and plane crashes into High Uintas Wilderness.

Ben has broken ribs and Ashley suffers a terrible leg fracture, along with the pilot's dog, are faced with harsh weather conditions and grows closer to each other.

Reception

Terry Miller Shannon writing in The Book Report called it "not only a page-turner of an adventure story; there is a moving emotional counterpart to the physical journey these characters undertake."[4]
