The Plight were a heavy rock band from Leeds, England. The band was formed by guitarist Lewis Pugh and drummer John Defenzi in the winter of 2004.[1] The Plight toured the UK and Europe extensively with bands such as Gallows, Converge and Poison the Well. The band were signed to UK record label Visible Noise Records alongside Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine. The band members were Sean Loughlin on bass, John Defenzi on drums, Lewis Pugh and Richard Storrow on guitar and Allister Mancrief on lead vocals. In 2010 their song 'Ball and Chain' was used by Lucozade for a national television advertisement campaign.[2][3] The band announced they had broken up in 2011 on their Facebook page.
History
After releasing their demo in early 2005, The Plight signed to Thirty Days Of Night Records, with whom they released a self-titled, seven track E.P in 2006. A UK tour with Gallows followed the release. In March 2007 The Plight were signed by Visible Noise Records. Their debut Visible Noise EP 'Black Summer', was released on 8 October 2007. The band appeared on a UK tour with Poison The Well in April 2008, followed by a European tour with Converge and Integrity in July. They also appeared at Guilfest, Boardmasters and Hard Rock Hell that year. In May 2009 they were part of the Vans 'Off The Wall' UK Tour alongside Short Sharp Shock and Cancer Bats. The Plight recorded a live session for BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale Studios and covered 'Easy Lover' by Phil Collins. Their full-length album was released in October 2009 and was titled 'Winds Of Osiris'.[4] Following this, the band appeared on BBC Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2009 [5] and the Red Bull stage at Download Festival in 2010 .[6]
