The Rosemariners is a Big Finish Productions audio drama set based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. These stories are in the Companion Chronicles format, a "talking book" narrated by the Doctor's companions (albeit not in character) with guest stars' voices, music and sound effects.
Plot
The Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe arrive on xeno-botany lab, Earth Station 454, as it is usurped by The Rosemariners of Rosa Damascena.
Cast
- Jamie McCrimmon, The Second Doctor - Frazer Hines
- Zoe Heriot - Wendy Padbury
- Biggs - David Warner
- Rugosa - Clive Wood
Continuity
- The Fifth Doctor mentions The Rosemariners in a previously released Lost Story, The Elite.
- The mystery of the Mary Celeste is mentioned, which the Doctor explains was due to the Daleks. He witnessed this in his previous incarnation, in the 1965 television story, The Chase.
- The Doctor realizes that some of the plants were developed by the Daleks, as he remembers them from the planet Kembel. This is a reference to another First Doctor television story, The Daleks' Master Plan.
Notes
- Donald Tosh was a script editor for Doctor Who in the mid-1960s and made significant contributions to the stories The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve and The Celestial Toymaker. He was script editor for The Daleks' Master Plan, referenced in this audio.
- Patrick Troughton and David Warner famously worked together in the feature film, The Omen.
