The Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life (V15/8C) is a famous boulder problem in Hollow Mountain Cave in the Grampians of Australia. The problem which consists of over 60 moves was first completed by Dai Koyamada in 2004, and it links up several V8 to V15 problems that were established by climbers such as Klem Loskot and Fred Nicole. The second ascent was made by the Australian boulderer Chris Webb Parsons in 2007. These ascents were then followed by a 3rd and 4th ascent by Ethan Pringle and James Kassay. On 30 October 2011, Australian climber Benjamin P. Cossey completed the fifth ascent of The Wheel of Life. Ben downgraded the climb from a V16 to a V14 (8B+).[1] In June 2012 ascents were made by Dave Graham and then Ian Dory. Graham suggested a route grade of 9a+ (Ewbank 36), stating that it was "not possible to compare it to other boulder problems, due to its length", and that it was in a league above 9a routes he had climbed.[2] In November 2012, James Kassay completed a more difficult direct finish to the problem.[3] Following this Daniel Woods made an ascent in 2013 [4] Closely followed by Alexander Megos.
