Series chronology

Thomas & Friends (previously known as Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends) is a children's television series about the engines and other characters working on the railways of the Island of Sodor, and is based on The Railway Series books written by the Rev. W. Awdry.

This article lists and details episodes from the eleventh series of this show, which was first broadcast in 2007. This series was narrated by Michael Angelis for the U.K. audiences, while Michael Brandon narrates the episodes for the U.S. audiences.

Starting in this series, the theme song is sung by the kids from the "Thomas and Friends" suite.

Most episodes in this series have two titles: the original titles from the U.K. broadcasts are shown on top, while the American-adapted titles are shown underneath.

This was Christopher Skala's first series as executive producer.

For the U.S. broadcasts, this is the last series to be distributed by Connecticut Public Television for the first few episodes. The rest and future series are distributed by WNET in New York City, New York.

Production

Series 11 is the first in the Series to be filmed in high-definition television format. The broadcast version only included 26 episodes.

Thomas has to take a famous storyteller around the Island of Sodor so she can write a story and get her to the opening of the new library on time, but on his way to different sites of Sodor, he figures that he needs to help his friends. And that is what makes the storyteller, to make a story; of Thomas and his friends on the Island of Sodor and their way of working together and helping each other.

Emily is sent to work with a cheerful but smelly new engine called Whiff. When the other engines tease her, Emily decides to run away from Whiff, which doesn't prove to work well when a line of rubbing trucks is blocking the line for Spencer. Emily realises her mistake, and gets Whiff to help, which proves that there is no reason to fear for someone like Whiff.

Spencer once again boasts about being faster, shinier and stronger than Thomas. Thomas vows to prove him wrong, but all his efforts only make him look worse. But his chance comes, when Spencer is slow at starting up. So Thomas takes the Duke and Duchess to the Sodor Airport, and watches from a distance as Jeremy flies the, away.

James has the job of picking up the Mayor of Sodor for a festival, but Thomas, Percy and Emily have other jobs to do first, and James goes to wash instead of helping them. But when he realises that none of them has made it to the festival, he decides to help them after all, and doesn't care if he gets dirty. But Sir Topham Hat reassures him that an dirty engine, always proves to have done a lot of work to be very useful.

A new truck, nicknamed Hector "the Horrid" by Bill and Ben, has arrived to help with the heavy workload, and is unwilling to co-operate. When Rosie is called to help, Hector scares her away. Thomas has had enough, and bumps Hector, making him fall over. It turns out that Hector is afraid of being loaded with coal, but Thomas proves him the end that it is not dangerous, and later couples him up to James' train.

The points are broken one day and Gordon must collect an engineer urgently. Unfortunately, Gordon rushes and his passenger turns out not to be who was expected. So Gordon has an idea, and works together with Donald and Douglas to get the engineer to the points that's broken. By the end, the points are fixed, and the engines can now continue their work as usual.

Percy sees strange lights in the sky, and Thomas tries to follow them to discover the source, instead of delivering the mail. In the end he asks Gordon for help, which proves successful. And it turns out that what Percy saw, was actually Jeremy the plane. Percy states at Tidmouth, that Jeremy is as much a happy site then a spaceship.

Henry is the only engine not held up by snow, because of supposed "lucky trucks", however the next day his luck runs out when his "lucky trucks" are taken by Edward. When he finally finds them, he crashes into them, breaking them apart. But he gets more confidence, and continues his job, which was to deliver presents for the children at the Sodor Airport.

Thomas wants to get to the festival, but learns not to hurry the hard way when he damages the bulb that he is taking to the lighthouse, in the end he is careful as he can be, and doesn't think of the festival, but only to do his job. As he heads back to the sheds, he sees the lighthouse and the lights from the ships at sea, and the moon and the stars reflection in the sea, which he thinks is even more beautiful.

Thomas likes to play jokes, and one day at the wharf, he gets the small narrow gauge engines to join him. So they trick one each other, and one by one every single narrow gauge engine is with Thomas, except for Peter Sam, who has an accident; and Mr. Percival arrives. He orders Thomas to sort out all his goods first. At the end, Mr. Percival asks where his trucks are, and Thomas puffs forwards with them, right behind him. Then Mr. Percival tells Thomas that; that was a good joke.

A famous magician is coming to perform on Sodor and Thomas is so excited about his grand finale that he rushes his work and does things wrong because he did not listen.

The Mayor of Sodor is having a new sailing boat launched and Thomas is charged with delivering it to the ceremony, however when he leaves before letting the engineer lower the mast, he gets into difficulties.

A new engine called Billy arrives and Thomas must show him around. Billy is too excited to listen and mistakes Thomas' friendly advice for Thomas bossing him about.

When Gordon challenges him to a race, Thomas is so determined to win that he does not wait for the workmen to couple up the car's flatbed truck properly. He races to the top of Gordon's Hill only for the truck – and the car – to race down the other side without Thomas.

Duncan is tired of delivering straw, and wants an exciting job. Luckily, Rusty doesn't want his job of taking passengers, so Duncan offers to do it. But he soon gets bored with that duty, and he takes on one of Skarloey's loads. But Duncan keeps taking on more jobs, and ends up getting none of them done, and his friends are to blame.

Mr. Percival is running late and places Sir Handel in charge of a special. He has to find engines to carry the logs up to Thomas. But Sir Handel feels too self-important, and tries searching for the best engines, rather than picking the first engines he sees like the Thin Controller said. Soon, no work is done and Thomas' load is late.

Madge, the snub-nosed lorry, has to carry Duncan across the mountain when his line gets snowed over. Duncan teases her for being slow while carrying him, so she shows him how much fun she can be, by going faster and skidding down the snow. But at an icy part, Madge loses control, and lands dangerously over the mountain's cliff!

The Thin Controller has ordered a new bike, but it has no bell. Freddie, learning from James that a bell is extremely important, wants to go off and find a new one to prove to James, Peter Sam and Mighty Mac that he is smart enough to know where to look. He finds several bells, but none of them are loud enough, and all together they tip the bike.

During a storm, the Farmer needs his sheep brought into his barn. Rheneas and Peter Sam set out into the rains to carry the sheep home safely, but Skarloey fears the loud thunder and lightning. He hides and watches until Rheneas and Peter Sam run out of coal. Being the last hope, Skarloey realizes that he must conquer his fears for the sheep.

Madge is put in charge of making sure the engines are spic and span for a road show. She makes sure Rheneas gets a good washdown, but she gets very dirty herself on her way to make sure Skarloey gets cleaned. Soon, Skarloey and Rheneas are sparkling, but Madge is covered in mud, and the road show will start soon.
