Tina Parol (born March 5, 1988) American singer-songwriter from New York City formerly signed to Universal Motown Records. Her first single "Who's Got Your Money" was released on April 7, 2009, on iTunes.[1] It was released for radio airplay on May 19, 2009, and reached #35 on the Billboard Pop Songs charts.[2]
Biography
Tina Annetta Parol (born Tina Annetta Borusowski) grew up a first generation American daughter of Polish immigrants. She grew up in West Seneca, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, NY. At age 16, Tina moved to Sleepy Hollow, NY and graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 2006. She wrote her first song at the age of 11, titled "Gypsy Woman". At the age of 13, she decided to become a professional songwriter and by 15, set her sights on becoming a recording artist as well. Parol studied record engineering and music business at New York University's Clive Davis Department before dropping out to record her debut album for Universal Motown Records. Aside from her artist career, Parol is also an active songwriter, having written the international B-Side "Rock Boy" (also the B-Side to "If U Seek Amy") for Britney Spears album Circus.[3] Parol co-produced her first artist single "Who's Got Your Money".Parol's debut digital iTunes-only EP, Bite My Tongue, was released on October 20, 2009.
Parol's music has had several appearances in film and television. Her first single "Who's Got Your Money" was placed in the popular MTV hit series The City as well as in CW’s Melrose Place; "Hold Onto Your Heart" was used in Touchstone Pictures' When in Rome, a feature film starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel, and was also used in the film's soundtrack alongside songs by Katy Perry and Jason Mraz; "What Else Do I Need" and "I'm Alive" were both used in the promos as well as in the actual Drop Dead Diva television series (Lifetime); "I'm Alive" was also used in Fox's So You Think You Can Dance; and "Crazy" was used in the promos and advertisements for Fox’s new series titled Brothers.
Parol currently resides in Nashville, TN and is focused primarily on songwriting. Her cuts span the genres of country, pop, EDM, hip-hop and film/TV.
Artistry
For her artist days, Parol cited artists such as Shirley Manson, Steven Tyler, Pat Benatar, Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett and Debbie Harry as her biggest influences. Tina's other major musical influences are The Police, The Pretenders, The Clash, Queen, The Ramones, Green Day, The Foo Fighters, Bob Marley and Roy Orbison. Critics have compared her to Avril Lavigne and Pink.[3]

Parol toured with acts such as White Tie Affair, A Rocket to the Moon, The Audition, Cash Cash, Friday Night Boys, Kelsey and the Chaos, Mercy Mercedes, and Forever the Sickest Kids! She will also be performing at the 98 PXY Summer Jam Concert in Rochester, NY with artists such as Flo Rida and Boys Like Girls.
